WHAT WILL BE THE MEDIUM OF LANGUAGE OF PRINTED
QUESTIONS IN AN QUESTION ANSWER BOOKLET?
Questions in Question Answer Booklet will be printed both in Gujarati as
well as English. But, Candidate will have to write an answer in a medium
of language chosen by him while applying online for this examination. The
candidates are not supposed to use mix languages.
IS THERE ANY NEGATIVE MARKING IF WORD LIMIT IS
EXCEEDED?Writing couple of extra words do not impact marking pattern. However,
GPSC will be providing calculated space on printed answer sheet with
maximum space one may need to write an answer as per word limit
mentioned in the question paper.
WHICH TYPE OF QUESTION ANSWER BOOKLET WILL BE
PROVIDED FOR MAINS EXAMINATION?
Question Answer Booklet will contain blank space below each question.

IS IT ALLOWED TO USE DIFFERENT COLOUR PEN OR
PENCIL FOR UNDERLINING PURPOSE IN ANSWER WRITING?
AND CAN ONE USE GEL PEN?
NO. Only Blue OR Black BALL POINT PEN is allowed (In entire paper
only a single colour ball point pen must be used). Any other colour ball
point pen or pencil is not allowed for underlining or any other purpose.
WHAT WOULD BE CONSIDERED AS AN IDENTIFICATION
MARK IN ANSWER WRITING?
If candidate attempts to provide any hint in answer sheet to disclose his
identity by any of the ways, such as, using multiple color ball point pen,
describing name or address or phone number which may arise doubt on
him as an attempt to disclose his identity in answers such as report-writing,
Letter-writing, Application-writing etc. or by drawing a diagram which is
irrelevant to the subject of question asked etc. then actions will be taken
against the candidate as per settled norms by the Commission.
IS IT OKAY TO WRITE A NAME AND ADDRESS OF
ANONYMOUS PERSON IN QUESTIONS SUCH AS LETTER,
REPORT AND APPLICATION WRITING?
Candidates should use alphabets or numerical instead of name.
For example;
Dear Mahesh - WRONG
Dear X.Y.Z. - CORRECT
Reporter 1 - CORRECT
Candidates are required to use address as “address line 1”, “address line 2”
etc. in their answer writing where it is mandatory to mention an address.

WHAT IS EXPECTED FROM CANDIDATE IN ESSAY WRITING?
A candidate should have ability to compose well-sustained and wellargued piece of writing in the form of essay. Apart from this, Originality

of thought/Expression, Facts and Grammatical correctness with proper
format is much expected while evaluation.
WHAT IF MY QUESTION ANSWER BOOKLET IS FAULTY?
Candidate must check all pages of answer booklet within first 10 minutes
of starting of exam. If any page is missing or misprinted, attention of
invigilator must be drawn immediately.
WILL I BE PROVIDED WITH EXTRA SUPPLEMENTRY?
NO. Enough required space will be provided under each question in every
Question Answer Booklet. So there is no provision of providing
supplementary under any circumstances.
WHAT IF WE FIND ANY MISTAKE IN QUESTION ANSWER
BOOKLET DURING WRITING AN EXAM?
Candidates will receive an instruction if there are any changes, if any kind
of mistake is found by candidate then one must report to his invigilator and
continue his writing while waiting for further instructions.
If candidate is not satisfied with the instructions given, he can represent to
the Commission after completion of whole exam.
WHAT IF I SIT ON WRONG SEAT NUMBER BY MISTAKE?
GPSC does not take any responsibility in such cases. It is strictly expected
from GPSC class-1/2 candidates that they verify their seat number, read all
instructions on their call letter, question paper and QUESTION ANSWER
BOOKLET properly before commencing paper.
